Modifications proposed to Lake of the Woods walleye regs


Proposed adjustments to walleye laws in Lake of the Woods would cut back catch and possession limits and alter each day catch and retain sizes in an effort to reduce annual angler harvest and fishing strain on the lake’s walleye inhabitants.

The adjustments, detailed on the Environmental Registry of Ontario (ERO), are open to public remark till Jan. 9, 2023, at 11:59 p.m.

In accordance with the posting, Ministry of Pure Assets and Forestry (MNRF) monitoring information signifies that the lake’s walleye inhabitants is susceptible to continued high-levels of harvest to the purpose the place the present harvest, together with different elements, poses a danger to the standard of this necessary walleye fishery.
